3 Toronto Maple Leafs Most Likely to be Traded

The Toronto Maple Leafs find themselves as one of the best teams in the league this season and general manager Kyle Dubas is expected to be active before the trade deadline.

While the Leafs don't have a ton of cap space to use, Dubas will be creative as possible with any deal as it's likely the team goes all-in this season. It will have to be a money in/money out type of transaction but the Leafs have some prospects and picks to get back some legit talent.

Here are the three Maple Leafs who are most likely the be traded before the deadline:

Alex Kerfoot, C/LW

Kerfoot is a versatile forward who has some offensive upside and has experience killing penalties. His game is built on using his speed and he's shown he can be productive at center, and on the wing. While the Leafs like Kerfoot, he's one of their only available forwards who makes a decent salary. His $3.5 million per season for the next two years is certainly appealing for other teams, considering he's only 26 and has multiple 40-point seasons under his belt. If the Leafs move Kerfoot, they will package him for a serious talent on the wing.

Pierre Engvall, C/LW

Engvall is a great skater who tends to not be as physical as he should be. His offensive upside is limited but he's signed for a great number at $1.25 million for next season. At 24 he still has value on the trade market. So far this season, Engvall has recorded two goals and six points in 20 games, playing amongst the Leafs bottom-six forwards. While Engvall wouldn't fetch much by himself in a deal, the Leafs could package him along with some picks/prospects to get back a solid player in return.

Timothy Liljegren, RHD

The 21-year-old former 17th overall pick from the 2017 draft hasn't been given a long look with the Maple Leafs just yet, and has played mostly with the AHL's Marlies. Liljegren is a smooth skater who has top-four potential and can help run a second power-play. He does a lot of the little things well, but don't expect to be blown away. With Rasmus Sandin and Mac Hollowell in the mix for next season, Liljegren could be made expendable to get the Leafs back some high-end talent.

Honorable mentions go to Nicolas Petan, Mikhail Abramov, Filip Hallander, and Travis Dermott.
