Anaheim Ducks GM Clears The Air on Ryan Getzlaf Trade Front

Anaheim Ducks general manager Bob Murray is sick and tired of the 'Toronto media' spreading trade rumors regarding his captain, Ryan Getzlaf.

Murray, who recently spoke to NHL.com was quick to point out he likes what head coach Dallas Eakins' is up to with his team and how the Ducks won't be moving Getzlaf any time soon:

I talked to the agent last week, I've talked to 'Getzy' a little bit. I'm tired of hearing this from Toronto anymore, how his name is out there [in media rumors]. The only way Ryan Getzlaf would go anywhere is if he came to me and said, 'Bob, can you try and trade me to a contender?

As for next year, we've talked and we're going to see how he feels after this year. We'll see how his body feels. We'll see how it's going. You know, he may just say, 'I don't want to keep going through this rebuild we're doing here.' But the relationship is wonderful and he's not going anywhere.

The 35-year-old Getzlaf is in the final season of his contract and holds a full no-movement clause. He won't be traded before April 12th this season, however we'll have to wait and see what the summer holds for Getzlaf and the Ducks. It's likely he remains with the Ducks and signs one-year contracts until he feels like retiring.
