Barclay Goodrow Drops Adam Erne Like a Sack of Potatoes
The Detroit Red Wings pulled off an upset after defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-4. This rematch came just days after the Red Wings somehow managed to take the Lightning to overtime. The multiple back-to-back games against the same opponent this season has initiated and revived many rivalries. After Barclay Goodrow's K.O punch to Adam Erne, we can expect more bad blood to come.
Goodrow of the Lightning is 6'2", 203lbs and Erne of the Red Wings is 6'1", 212lbs. They're not the biggest players in the league, but this certainly wasn't a featherweight matchup.
Erne took exception to some 'uncalled for' roughness by Goodrow after dumping the puck into the Lightning's zone. Erne chased him down and gave him a half-hearted spear to the leg. It appeared that they were parting ways, but Erne was insistent on escalating the situation. The two dropped the gloves and began chucking hands at one another. Goodrow wound up missed a huge right, but he ducked Erne's throw and landed the next haymaker right on the button. Erne went down like a sack of potatoes but thankfully didn't hit his head on the ice surface as Goodrow held his grip on Erne's way down.
Here's the clip.
