Blue Jackets Expected to Trade RHD David Savard
The Columbus Blue Jackets are 8-10-5 on the season which is good for 21st in the NHL. The team has been surrounded by drama this season from Pierre-Luc Dubois' trade request to the ongoing spotlight on head coach John Tortorella.
Needless to say there's a good chance some more changes are made in Columbus and according to TSN's Frank Seravalli, defenseman David Savard is a name to keep an eye on.
Seravalli revealed his first trade bait board of the season and Savard was near the top of the list. The right-handed defenseman is in the final season of his contract and there's going to be a list of contenders who look to the 30-year-old as a candidate to round out their defensive core before the playoffs.
So far this season, Savard has appeared in 22 games and has yet to score, and recorded four assists. Last season Savard didn't score in the 68 games he played in, yet his 11 assists in the playoffs along with his solid defensive play, shot-blocking and physicality made Savard extremely hard to play against.
Expect to see the Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers and Winnipeg Jets have the most interest in Savard as we approach the April 12th trade deadline.
