Blue Jackets Trying To Fill Specific Need Via Trade

The Columbus Blue Jackets are in the trade market and have a specific need their trying to fill for this season, the center position. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Blue Jackets are content with their future at the position but they are trying to acquire a center who can step in this season and produce.

The team had their #1 center for the foreseeable future in Pierre-Luc Dubois, but of course, we all know what happened there with the player not being interested playing for the Blue Jackets.

General manager Jarmo Kekalainen is never shy to make a bold move but this next acquisition may not be as high-profile as his last deal that included acquiring Jack Roslovic and Patrik Laine.

Some centers that are likely on the Blue Jackets radar include Arizona Coyote Derick Brassard, Anaheim Duck Adam Henrique, and Buffalo Sabre Eric Staal. Veterans who won't cost the team a ton of assets and if the Ducks are willing to retain some of Henrique's $5.285 annual cap hit for the next three seasons, he's certainly a name that could fit in nicely for the Jackets.

Keep an eye on Columbus. Their GM recently gave head coach John Tortorella a vote of confidence and is interested in upgrading his center ice position.
