Chicago Blackhawks Open To Interesting Trades
The Chicago Blackhawks have surprised us all this season with their play. The team sits 14-11-5 on the season, good for 15th overall in the NHL. Considering they're playing without their captain Jonathan Toews and having Brent Seabrook retire, not many expected the Blackhawks to be in the playoff hunt this late in the season. While they aren't expected to be buyers at the trade deadline, expect their management team to try and use all their extra cap space via LTIR to facilitate trades for other teams or to take on a bad contract in hopes of landing a top prospect or high draft pick.
Multiple reports surfaced on Tuesday, stating how open the Blackhawks were to use the cap space to their advantage. Their 'trade deadline' acquisition will be the return of young star Kirby Dach who broke his wrist at the world juniors. From all accounts it doesn't sound like management is interested in doing anything to drastic.

One team that will consider taking money? Surprising Chicago. The Blackhawks are in a position to absorb a contract or two if the assets are good enough.
Teams that could use the Blackhawks for their 'money' include the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning and Washington Capitals. All teams that are expected to be active up until the April 12th trade deadline.
