Darryl Sutter Bag Skates The Calgary Flames During First Practice As Head Coach
The Calgary Flames are out with the old and in with the new. Geoff Ward was fired as Head Coach and Darryl Sutter has been brought in for his second stint with the Flames. He's back in town and he's letting his team know... the hard way.
General Manager Brad Treliving chose to fire Geoff Ward after their 7-3 victory against the Ottawa Senators last Thursday. It's likely the case that Ward was on the outs regardless of the outcome, evidenced by the immediate announcement of Sutter's hiring.
The Flames were 11-11-2 under Ward's tenure. Sutter missed the team's first two games since his hiring due to quarantine requirements. However, he is ready to go. Just 34 minutes into his first practice, he decided to bag skate the team.
