Florida Panthers Waive Expensive Defenseman
The Florida Panthers have made a surprising roster move as the team has waived defenseman Anton Stralman. The 34-year-old defenseman has the rest of this season and next on his contract that pays him $5.5 million per season.

It isn't likely Stralman is picked up as teams are strapped for cash around the league. The Panthers will do what they can to move Stralman before the deadline however, will have to retain salary to facilitate a deal. Stralman has appeared in 29 games this season, recording nine points and a -4 rating.

Teams looking for defensemen include the Winnipeg Jets, Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks. At this time it doesn't appear any of them will have interest in Stralman.
