Flyers Head Coach Calls Out Carter Hart, Sits Him for Two Games
Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart has been struggling of late and according to his head coach it has a lot to do with his practice habits and his compete levels. Flyers coach Alain Vigneault went on to mention Hart will be sitting for the next two games while he puts in some work to fix his game.
Hart, in his third season with the Flyers is having a down season after two stellar campaigns and here's what his head coach told the media on Monday:
This is not a rest day for Carter, this is a work day for him. He's going to skate today in practice, stay on after, practice with the team tomorrow, stay on after. Wednesday he'll do the same thing ... he needs to work on his game. He needs to work harder, he needs to work better. I've had good conversations with him and Kim (Dillabaugh, goalie coach) about my expectations about his practice habits and him stopping the puck.
Hart currently ranks dead last among eligible goaltenders with a .869 save % and the team is hoping some time away from game action to hit the 'reset' button will get him back to his playoff bubble form from last season.
For now, veteran Brian Elliott will be the Flyers starting netminder.
