Help Is On The Way For The Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs sit with a seven point lead in the North division even after a rough week against the Vancouver Canucks. While the team has been battling injuries throughout the entire season, some bodies are getting healthy and help is on the way.

Wayne Simmonds and Jack Campbell both skated on Monday. For Simmonds it was the first time skating since breaking his wrist a month ago. The original report was he would miss six weeks and it appears he could be roughly a week ahead of schedule.

Simmonds was on fire before he got hurt, scoring five goals in his first 12 games in Toronto. His net-front presence and ability to easily stick up for his teammates has been an integral piece missing from the Maple Leafs.

Campbell has been a pleasant surprise in his three appearances this season. His 1.33 GAA and .951 save % are absolute stellar and look for Campbell to receive more minutes once he gets back to 100% healthy.

He originally hurt himself in a win against the Calgary Flames on January 24th and re-injured himself on February 27th against the Edmonton Oilers. He's won every game he's started this season. Campbell practiced with both Frederick Andersen and Michael Hutchinson on Monday and appears to be roughly a week away.
