Maple Leafs' Andersen to Miss Some Time With Injury
The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced goaltender Frederik Andersen will be out for at least a week with a lower-body injury.
The injury has been lingering all season for Andersen and it's showed. He's been as inconsistent as he's ever been in a Maple Leafs uniform and the fanbase has certainly voiced their displeasure in the direction of Andersen's play this season.
So far this season the pending unrestricted free-agent is 13-8-2 with a save % of .897. The veteran has only won one game of his last six starts.
Backup Jack Campbell is expected to serve as the starter for the time being and with a 4-0-0 record to go along with a .965 save % if Campbell keeps up the strong play, there's a chance he sees the majority of the minutes moving forward. It also doesn't hurt his future in Toronto that Campbell's cap hit is less than $2 million next season considering how cap crunched the Leafs are.
The Leafs play four games over the next seven days with no back-to-backs. Expect to see Campbell and his positive vibes in the crease for each contest.
