Minnesota Wild Make Surprising Roster Move

The Minnesota Wild are scheduled to take on the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday night in a rematch from Monday's contest and will be doing so without Zach Parise in the lineup. The veteran forward will be a healthy scratch for the first time in Minnesota.

The first game this week was a back and forth affair that saw the Golden Knights tie the game with less than a minute left and eventually won in overtime. Parise has become quite the scape goat from Monday's game as late in the third period he didn't change when he was supposed to and ended up staying on the ice for a 1:33 minute shift, just to watch Vegas forward Alex Tuch tie the game.

With three goals in 19 games and a contract that pays him $7.53 million for the next four seasons, the Wild want more out of Parise. If he's not going to be scoring goals at a clip like we saw earlier on in his career, he needs to be defensively sound and it appears he's far from that lately.

The Wild have been one of the NHL's biggest surprises this season as the team is third in the West division with a record of 12-6-1. If they want to continue this hot streak and make their way into the postseason, they are going to need Parise to be a huge part of their team. However on Wednesday, he'll be a part of it from the press box.
