Ottawa Senator Derek Stepan Out for the Season
The Ottawa Senators have announced forward Derek Stepan will require surgery on his dislocated shoulder and will miss the remainder of this season.
The 30-year-old was acquired for a 2nd round pick before the season started from the Arizona Coyotes and no disrespect, but that may be a trade the team regrets. Stepan only appeared in only 20 games, scoring once and adding five assists.

He will miss the remainder of this regular season.
While he was a strong mentor to some of the younger players, Stepan's name was out there after a couple of weeks in Ottawa as a player that wanted out. Rumblings stated he preferred to play closer to home as him and his wife had another baby and already had a young family.
The road to recovery for Stepan will take months, however, he is projected to be ready for the start of training camp next season. Where exactly that is for the veteran free-agent, at this point, is anyone's guess.
Derek Stepan, out for the season, provides his value from playmaking and definitely not scoring goals. This season was no different but he was certainly a better playdriver than most of what the Sens had. #GoSensGo pic.twitter.com/4YWIPdLXGm

There's a chance he ends up back with the Arizona Coyotes or one of the California teams next season.
