Pittsburgh Penguins Lose Goaltender to Injury
The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New York Islanders on Monday, but the win came at a price. Goaltender Tristan Jarry had to leave the game after the first period and never returned.
The Penguins won the game 2-1 after Casey DeSmith came in to replace Jarry and stopped 19 of 20 shots he faced. As for Jarry, the team is calling it an upper-body injury and head coach Mike Sullivan had this to say about his starting netminder:
I don't really have a lot of details for you at this point. I can't even pinpoint when it happened. It was something the medical staff felt strongly enough to take him out of the game.
Jarry is having a fine season after getting off to a slow start. He entered Monday's contest with a 14-8-2 record and a .909 save %. The Penguins have been hammered with injuries all season with the likes of Evgeni Malkin, Brandon Tanev and Kasperi Kapanen currently on the shelve.
Look for the Penguins to gauge the market on a cheap goaltender to provide some insurance behind Jarry and DeSmith.

Tristan Jarry gets a win after making only five saves. That's efficient.
