Rumor: Alex Goligoski to the Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers are looking to add a top-four defenseman and there's several on their trade board who they have interest in. If you ask hockey insider Pierre LeBrun, he'll mention Alex Goligoski is on the list of targets.

The Arizona Coyotes veteran defenseman is in the final season of his contract, paying him $5.475 million against the cap. The 36-year-old is having a tough season so far with only two assists in 27 games. Even though the offensive production hasn't been there, Goligoski is second on the Coyotes in ice-time per night as he's averaging over 22 minutes a game. The Flyers could use another d-man who can eat big minutes and considering he's just a rental, it's a low-risk high-reward type of acquisition.

Goligoski's best season came back in 2013-14 when he recorded 42 points for the Dallas Stars. Since arriving in Arizona back in 2016-17, the former second-round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins has averaged 32 points per season. Unfortunately this season, be it a contract year, hasn't been anywhere close.

Goligoski does hold trade protection, so he submits a list of 8 teams he can't be dealt to. We'll be curious to see how Arizona handles this situation as we approach the April 12th trade deadline.
