Rumor: Anaheim Ducks To Make Several Firings
The Anaheim Ducks are currently 7th in the West Division with just one point more than the last place San Jose Sharks, despite having three more games played. They're not a good team by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, they have been a basement dwelling organization for the past few seasons. It appears that big changes are coming.
These rumors have not been confirmed, but there are rumblings that GM Bob Murray and Head Coach Dallas Eakins will be fired in the near future. As Eric Stephens of The Athletic states, it is hard to confirm these rumors as the Ducks' owners, Henry and Susan Samueli, rarely grant interviews.
It is rather uncommon for a GM to be fired before a coach, but this happens from time to time. In the event the Ducks are prepared to keep Murray in the GM position, it is with almost certainty that Eakins will be relived as the bench boss. Essentially, Murray and Eakins will be relieved of their duties, or just Eakins. That equation doesn't add up well for Eakins, who is in his third year as head coach.
