Rumor: Anaheim Ducks & Toronto Maple Leafs Talking Trade
The Anaheim Ducks and Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly had some contact regarding a deal involving Ducks forward Rickard Rakell heading to the Maple Leafs.
On Friday Pierre Lebrun of The Athletic made mention the Maple Leafs are 'all-in' and felt Rakell was a great fit, and an upgrade on rumored target Mikael Granlund due the fact he's signed for next season and is a step up talent-wise.
Rakell almost landed as a Maple Leaf on his draft night and it could now be coming full circle. So far this season the 27-year-old has recorded six goals and 19 points in 28 games and his ability to play both wings should appeal to Maple Leafs general manager, Kyle Dubas.
Rakell could provide the Leafs with the top-seven forward they were looking for who can play multiple roles, produce and they could get two playoff runs out of this deal.
Expect to see an expensive package head back to Anaheim if this deal goes down. Leafs Nation would likely have to say good-bye to either prospect Timothy Liljegren and Rodion Amirov, or both to obtain Rakell.
A tough price to pay, but if the Leafs are indeed all-in, this deal needs to go down.
