Rumor: Colorado Avalanche & Buffalo Sabres To Complete Trade Deal
The Colorado Avalanche have been turning over rocks to search for answers to their goalie problem. The injury to Pavel Francouz at the beginning of the season has put GM Joe Sakic in quite a predicament. It seems he may finally have a solution.
Sportsnet Insider Elliotte Friedman has stated that Joe Sakic has approached Buffalo Sabres GM Kevyn Adams in regards to a goalie trade. Adams has some leverage knowing the goalie market is small and the Avs' goalies are not playing up to snuff.
Jonas Johansson is Sakic's intended target. The Swedish goaltender was selected 61st overall in 2014 but has not played much hockey at the NHL level. Johansson has registered a 3.91 GAA and a 0.883 SV% over six games this season. These numbers may be unattractive, but he's only 25 years old and he's playing with one of the worst teams the league. There is argument that he still needs to be developed but is much more skilled than what his stats indicate.
