Rumor: DeBrusk to Oilers

The trade deadline is just over a month away and the rumor mill is starting to heat up. Teams may look to improve their roster sooner rather than later, with potential travel restrictions coming into play. The Boston Bruins have a slew of injuries on defense and may be looking to move Jake DeBrusk(who is listed as a healthy scratch for tonight) to fill a hole on defense. A homecoming with Edmonton may be brewing between Debrusk and the Oilers.

DeBrusk has seemingly fallen out of favor in Boston. It has been a tough season so far for DeBrusk, so far in 17 games he only has one goal and five points overall. According to  Oilersnation the Oilers are looking for a top-six winger and Edmonton is loaded with NHL defensemen. It is believed that the Bruins would target Ethan Bear in a trade for DeBrusk, but the Oilers would like to hold onto him and would prefer to move Caleb Jones or possibly Adam Larsson. Larsson is a UFA after this year and is a $4 million cap hit, Jake DeBrusk is signed through next season at $3.67 cap hit. Adam Larsson is having a bounce back season for Edmonton, he is one of the league leaders in shots blocked and hits. Jake DeBrusk grew up in Edmonton and his dad Louie works as a color commentator for Oiler TV broadcasts.

Is there a fit with the B's and Oil? April 12th is the trade deadline and there is a feeling most of the action on the trade market will happen before that time. Tick tock....
