Rumor: Mattias Ekholm to the Boston Bruins

Another day and another team that's linked to Nashville Predator Mattias Ekholm, as the Boston Bruins will reportedly be interested in acquiring the defenseman before the April 12th trade deadline.

Pierre LeBrun and Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic both feel Ekholm would be a perfect fit in Boston and could see the Bruins at least considering the move as we approach the trade deadline. The Bruins have already added Jarred Tinordi to their d-core, who brings some toughness each and every night and Ekholm would provide the top-four with some more balance and stability.

He has this season and next season remaining on his deal, and at $3.75 million some would consider him severely under paid.

The Bruins are going for it again this season so anything is really on the table when it comes to moving picks or prospects out. The team's management knows Patrice Bergeron and company are not getting any younger and it's going to be important to maximize this season and the next, to ensure you're giving the roster the best chance at another Stanley Cup.

If Ekholm is added by the Bruins, do they become the favorites?
