Rumor: Minnesota Wild Shopping Zach Parise On Trade Market
Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin was reportedly shopping Zach Parise at last year's trade deadline. Parise was snubbed for the captaincy and was recently made a healthy scratch for the first time in his career. The writing is on the wall for Parise and his time with the Wild.
Parise was born and raised in the State of Minnesota. He's a homegrown kid and has been a fan favorite since his monstrous signing in 2012. He and teammate Ryan Suter signed 13 year deals worth $98 million dollars. After each receiving a signing bonus of $25 million, their annual cap hits amount to $7.538 million. With four more years left on Parise's deal, the Wild may have trouble moving him.
Guerin nearly sent Parise to the New York Islanders last season, but a trade partner has not yet been announced for this season. Parise's role is beginning to diminish quickly, which also hurts his future trade value. Guerin must also be aware of potential recapture penalties in the event Parise decides to retire.
The Wild are believed to be exploring their options rather than avidly shopping the longtime forward. However, his large cap hit and his lack of production will make finding a trade partner a difficult task.
