Rumor: Philadelphia Flyers Working on Huge Trade
The Philadelphia Flyers and Detroit Red Wings have been in contact regarding a trade that would see goaltender Jonathan Bernier and defenseman Marc Staal heading to the Flyers in exchange for a package of prospects and picks heading back to the Red Wings.
Pierre LeBrun of TSN mentioned via Insider Trading on Tuesday night that the Flyers were having internal conversations regarding adding Bernier and the worry is what adding another goaltender would do to the confidence of young goalie Carter Hart, who continues to struggle and is currently benched.
As for Bernier he's having a great season on a very bad team in Detroit, in 17 games he's posted a 2.78 GAA and a .918 save %. Staal on the other hand is also a pending free-agent and is the type of veteran the Flyers have been looking to add on their blue-line all season. In 37 games he's chipped in with six points and his 107 playoff games is certainly appealing to Flyers management.
#Flyers appear to be trying to free cap space to make a major deal.

Philadelphia waived Shayne Gostisbehere on Tuesday in a move that was supposedly made to free up some cap space for a bigger move. Some feel the 'bigger' move is this proposed deal with the Red Wings. Gostisbehere is expected to be claimed on Wednesday and we could see a move soon after.
