St Louis Blues Sign Jordan Binnington to Huge Contract Extension

The St Louis Blues have locked up goaltender Jordan Binnington with a six-year contract extension worth $36 million total. The team announced the extension late Thursday as they've fully committed to Binnington as their future in net.

The stellar netminder was supposed to be headed for unrestricted free-agency this upcoming offseason but now one of the best names to hit the market has been taken off. Binnington sees himself enjoying a nice raise per season of $1.6 million from his $4.4 million on the cap this season.

The team will still have roughly $16 million to work with in cap space next season and will need to sign Jaden Schwartz, Mike Hoffman and Vince Dunn.

As for the Binnington, so far this season he's 9-6-3 with a 2.69 GAA and a .908 save %. He burst onto the scene in 2018-19 with a 24-5-1 record and hasn't looked back since, including a Stanley Cup championship.

The Blues are hoping the 27-year-old has lots more of that type of success in him and have given Binnington the keys to the crease for the next six seasons.

Maybe this extension will put 'Binns' in a better mood...
