Two Teams Seriously Interested In Carey Price

NHL insider Jimmy Murphy has stated that several teams have contacted Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin regarding Carey Price. Two teams in particular have expressed serious interest in the veteran goaltender.

The Edmonton Oilers and the Colorado Avalanche are the teams with the most interest in acquiring Price. Murphy reports that the Canadiens believe Price can regain his prime form to increase his trade value, but Habs fans aren't prepared to wait it out.

Price is 5-4-3 on the season with a .888 save percentage and 3.13 goals against average. This is certainly well below adequate, but his $10.5 million annual salary continues for another six seasons. Weighing his inadequacy against his contract, this may be the worst existing deal in the NHL. If the Habs have an opportunity, they should offload this contract as soon as possible. Although Price has the proven ability as a starting goaltender, his numbers during the last 3 seasons have not been favourable. Additionally, at age 33, Price is not getting any younger. Trade, buyout, whatever it takes to offload this mammoth contract.
