Video: Alex Ovechkin Moves Into 6th on All-Time Goals List
Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals has been everything as advertised since his junior days in Russia. 'OV' has become the best scorer of our generation in the NHL and continues to light the lamp for the Caps. The 35-year-old kept climbing the records book on Tuesday as his 12th goal this season was his 718th of all-time, passing Phil Esposito for 6th on the all-time list.
FROM HIS OFFICE:
Ovechkin is now 13 behind Marcel Dionne for 5th and 23 behind Brett Hull for 4th. He's also only 48 more behind Jaromir Jagr for 3rd all-time, so if he manages to say healthy, we could see him climb into the top-3 sometime next season.
Esposito sent this message to congratulate the legend, classy move:
And now a message from the great Phil Esposito for Alex Ovechkin on taking over sixth place on the all-time goals list!#ALLCAPS | #Gr8 pic.twitter.com/8NydChJFE8
