Anaheim Ducks Forward Out Four-to-Six Months

The Anaheim Ducks have announced forward Jakob Silfverberg will be out for four-to-six months after he required surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right hip. The surgery was performed in Los Angeles by Dr Michael Banffy, this according to NHL.com.

It's been an up and down season for Silfverberg and the Ducks in general, as the team is transitioning into a younger core. The 30-year-old hasn't produced his best season and perhaps the injury had something to do with it as he wraps up this campaign with eight goals and eight assists in 47 games.

Silfverberg has three years left on his contract that sees him make $5.25 per season. His general manager Bob Murray had this to say about Silfverberg's surgery:

Jakob is a great teammate and leader in our locker room. He did everything he could to continue playing, but after two years dealing with this issue, now is the right time to help him get to 100 percent. He has been an impactful player in all situations for us, and we are confident he will return to full health by next season.

Look for Silfverberg to have a bounce back season next year as he looks to get back to scoring 20 goals a year.
