There was a ton of Bennett trade talk earlier this season after his agent came out and notified the media he preferred to see his client playing in a different environment. The coaching change of Darryl Sutter was supposed to rekindle the spark between the two sides but that hasn't been the case at all and now the Flames move on.
Bennett was a former 4th overall pick of the Flames and was given the option before this season started if he wanted to play wing or center and he chose center...which lasted a total of three games before he was moved to wing. The 24-year-old has appeared in 38 games this season for Calgary, recording 12 points and now heads to the Sunshine state looking to hit reset on his career by playing some meaningful games for the Florida Panthers.
