Canadiens Jonathan Drouin Leaves Team for Personal Reasons
The Montreal Canadiens have announced that forward Jonathan Drouin has taken a leave of absence from the hockey club, citing personal reasons.
The team has asked for everyone to respect his full privacy. The details are extremely limited at this time and there are no timelines for his return.
This is obviously more than a hockey matter. The 26-year-old is currently on LTIR and has appeared in 44 games, scoring two goals and assisting on 21 others.

Best not to speculate as to why Drouin will be absent. Not our business.

All that matters is being supportive, which is something we could stand to do a little more regardless of the situation.
Last year ago one of my friends needed serious cancer treatment and was feeling down. This friend is a big Habs fan & Jonathan Drouin quietly sent him a personalized video to cheer him up. Sometimes there are more important things in life than hockey. https://t.co/PzAGtNFcUA

Drouin on LTIR leaves $5.82M of $9.25M available, which enables flexibility to keep Caufield and Evans on the active roster. @TSN_Edge
