Done Deal: Maple Leafs Acquire David Rittich From the Flames
The Toronto Maple Leafs have made another trade as general manager Kyle Dubas has found his team some goaltending insurance, acquiring David Rittich from the Calgary Flames. The Leafs sent a a third-round pick in 2022 for the 28-year-old netminder.
Rittich has appeared in 15 games this season for the disappointing Calgary Flames and has managed to keep his save percentage above .900 (.904). The former All-Star provides the Maple Leafs with some more depth in their crease. 'Big Save Dave' is a pending free-agent who if Jack Campbell struggles at some point or needs a couple of periods off, can come in and provide some stability.

The Leafs have now traded four draft picks and the deadline is still hours away. Dubas and company have shipped out a first rounder in '21, a third-rounder in '22 and a fourth-rounder in both years.
As for Rittich, he's been on the team's radar for some time now and ours as well. The netminder was a highlight of our article from two weeks ago regarding the best goaltending options for the Maple Leafs.
It's obvious the Maple Leafs are going for it with this trade and landing Nick Foligno earlier in the day. Buckle up Leafs Nation. With the amount of talent on this Leafs roster, they have just as good a chance as any team to win the Stanley Cup.
