Henrik Lundqvist Confirms He's Done for the Season
Some tough news on Sunday as Henrik Lundqvist confirmed via Twitter that he's feeling great and did begin skating, but unfortunately he won't be joining the Washington Capitals this season.
Lundqvist underwent heart surgery and since he's ramped up his training schedule there's been some swelling around his heart and he's now required to rest for a few months.
Right after getting back on the ice after surgery, I made it my “stretch goal” to join @Capitals for the end of the season. Training has been going really well and I’ve been feeling good - but my heart isn’t quite ready.

Last week’s checkup showed some inflammation around the heart that now requires a few months more of rest and steady recovery.

While it’s not what I hoped for, I know this is all part of the process of getting back to 100%.
Let's hope everything goes ok with King Henrik's recovery and we can see him in action opening night next season.
