Injury Update on Maple Leafs Forward Zach Hyman

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Monday that forward Zach Hyman will miss a minimum of two weeks after an MRI revealed he has a sprained MCL in his right knee. The injury occurred on Sunday night when Hyman was clipped with a knee by Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alex Edler, who ended up being suspended for two games for his action.

For the Leafs it's the best news possible as there was some fear it was going to be much worse. This isn't the first time Hyman's dealt with a knee injury as he's already tore his ACL on the same knee.

The workhorse is considered the team's most 'important' forward as he's able to play all over the lineup, he works the hardest and the 28-year-old is producing offensively. So far this season in 43 games, Hyman has 33 points, which would be on pace for a career season if it was 82-games long.

The Maple Leafs now have to wait a few weeks to get their best lineup on the ice and will likely have five games or so together before the playoffs. That's if everyone can stay healthy down the stretch. Leafs Nation is certainly hoping so as it's been 15 years since the team won a playoff series.

Here's the play that shelved Hyman for at least a couple of weeks:
