Jaromir Jagr Comments on Future of His Hockey Career
Jaromir Jagr still loves to play hockey and until he doesn't anymore, he's going to suit up professionally. The living legend recently spoke to the media regarding his playing career and appears set to play into his 50's.
The 49-year-old Jagr has played 33! professional seasons of hockey and most recently with the Kladno Knights in the Czech league, where of course is the team he owns. Here's what Jagr had this to say about his love for the game:
I believe I still have it in me. It is all just about working hard and putting more effort. I have to practice harder and avoid gaining weight. The main reason I am still playing is my responsibility to the club. If I did not have any, I would not be flying around on the ice here. Because I am embarrassing myself there, I can say. I expect much more from myself and I don't have it. But I am aware that when I leave, many (business) partners will leave the team, too. That's why I have no choice.
While he's going to continue his hockey career, it will be in Europe and won't be back in the NHL, where he last played for the Calgary Flames in 2018. Jagr ranks second in the NHL history books in points with 1921, third in goals (766) and fourth in games played (1733).
What a legend!
