Maple Leafs Defenseman Out At Least a Month

Tough blow for the Toronto Maple Leafs as defenseman Zach Bogosian has been ruled out for at least four weeks with a shoulder injury.

The injury occurred earlier this week against the Vancouver Canucks when Bogosian was trying to retrieve a puck from his own end and ended up catching an edge just before the boards and went crashing in.

You could tell right away it wasn't good and Bogosian was left a bloodied mess and obviously more worse for wear. The Leafs are uber-thin on the right-side of their defense so this is certainly going to test their depth as Bogosian has been everything as advertised after signing a one-year deal in Toronto. Look for Rasmus Sandin, Travis Dermott and Ben Hutton to get a look on the bottom pair as the Leafs try to get their best lineup possible ready for the playoffs.

'Bogo' has been averaging just over 14 minutes of ice-time a night and has four assists in 45 games. The Leafs appear interested in bringing him back next season and look forward to having him back at some point in the playoffs.

Here's the play that ended Bogosian's regular season:
