Maple Leafs News & Updates: Foligno, Bogosian, Andersen & More

The Toronto Maple Leafs held their traditional morning skate as they prepare for the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night. The Leafs are expected to have newcomer Nick Foligno in the lineup tonight when they face Blake Wheeler and the Jets, and from all accounts it appears #71 will start alongside Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner on the team's top line.

Foligno had been quarantining at his summer home in Sudbury, ON, roughly 4 hours north of Toronto and has now made his way to join his teammates in Winnipeg. The long-time Columbus Blue Jacket recently chatted with NHL.com's Daren Millard on The Chirp podcast and opened up about the whole process and what it means to him to play for his Dad's former team:

Not All Good News in Toronto

The Maple Leafs coaching staff has announced the team is expected to be without defenseman Zach Bogosian for at least a week after the rugged defender went head first into the boards against the Vancouver Canucks. While the actual injury has not been announced, you have to believe from the looks of it that it's related to a concussion. Look for Rasmus Sandin to get an extended look with Bogosian on the shelve and for Travis Dermott to play the right-side instead of his usual left.

How Long Until We See Frederik Andersen?

Sounds like it will be another few games yet before we see Frederik Andersen back between the pipes for the Leafs, as they want to give him some game action before the playoffs. The likes of Jack Campbell and newcomer David Rittich have struggled of late. Head coach Sheldon Keefe recently admitted he's concerned about the teams' goaltending. Hopefully for Leafs Nation Andersen can get back to form before the playoffs.
