New Jersey Devils Sign Top Prospect
The New Jersey Devils announced they have signed 2020 first-round pick Alexander Holtz to a three-year entry-level contract. Holtz was selected seventh overall by the Devils and the team has high hopes for one of their best prospects in years.
The team also signed Holtz to a AHL Amateur Try-Out Agreement for the remainder of this season and he will make his way to join Binghamton once his quarantine period is finished.
Holtz is coming off a season in the Swedish Hockey League where he recorded 18 points in 40 games. He also scored twice and tallied four points in three playoff games.

Born in Saltsjo-Boo, Sweden, Holtz represented his home country at the 2021 World Junior Championship, scoring one goal and two assists in five contests. In 2020, he was part of the Swedish team that won a Bronze Medal at the World Championship, and also captured gold in 2019 as part of the under-18 World Junior Championship team.
The Devils are hopeful Holtz can make the team next season and be an impact player alongside some of their young core including Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier.
