The Islanders were in the market for a depth defenseman and the 36-year-old is exactly that. He's not the player he once was, however Coburn can provide some stability on the back-end and still make the 'right' play when the games on the line.
The pending free-agent has appeared in 16 games this season, recording two points and heads to the Islanders with 136 playoff games under his belt.
Both teams are expected to make another move or two as we approach the 3pm eastern trade deadline on Monday. It's obvious the Islanders are going for it this season and expect to see the Senators sell off as many assets as possible.
