Panthers and Blackhawks Complete a Trade
The Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers agreed to a trade as the Blackhawks have reacquired forward Vinnie Hinostroza from the 'Cats in exchange for forward Brad Morrison.
It's been a struggle for Hinostroza so far this season in Florida as he's appeared in nine games and has yet to register a point. The Blackhawks are hoping he can return to form in Chicago after being a draft pick back in 2012 and playing three seasons for the club. His best Blackhawks season came in 2018 where he finished the year with 25 points in 50 games.
As for Morrison, he's a 24-year-old prospect who has yet to find himself in the NHL. He's been a career minor-leaguer and was acquired by the Blackhawks from the Los Angles Kings in the Olli Maata trade. Morrison has recorded five points in six AHL games this season and his rookie year as a pro he scored 20 points in 50 games.
While this is certainly a minor deal, expect to see both of these teams very active before the April 12th deadline. The Panthers are looking for defenseman meanwhile the Blackhawks are open to any deal including providing salary cap relief to other teams for a cost.
