Patrick Roy Interested in NHL Job
Patrick Roy wants back in the NHL and it doesn't matter what he has to do to make it happen. The goaltending great is eyeing a return to the league in a coaching or management capacity, this according to his agent.
Roy has hired a new agent recently, Neil Glasberg at PBI Sports and Entertainment, hoping that Glasberg's the guy who can land him another dream job. This is the same agent who represents several other coaches and execs, including John Tortorella and Mike Sullivan.
Here's what Roy's new agent had to say about his potential return on Monday:
He could be a president of hockey ops. He could be a GM. He could be a co-GM. He could be a head coach. It's going to be situational. That's the truthful answer. I’d love to give this a shot and see what happens. And if something works out, fantastic. And if it doesn't, we can't say we didn't try. It’s worth taking a shot right now.
The Hall of Famer is currently the head coach and general manager of the QMJHL's Quebec Remparts and hasn't worked in the league since 2016 when he stepped down from the Colorado Avalanche for personal reasons.
While there's several teams without a coach signed for next season including the Detroit Red Wings, Columbus Blue Jackets, Buffalo Sabres, Arizona Coyotes and Vancouver Canucks, one team that everyone has circled is the Montreal Canadiens.
Are Habs fans going to be able to handle this?
