Pittsburgh Penguins Shopping For Heavy Forward
The Pittsburgh Penguins keep winning hockey games even with some big names missing from their lineup. While general manager Ron Hextall loves the character of his hockey team, he's working hard to try and find a way to upgrade his group. The Penguins GM wants to add a winger with size before the trade deadline and continues to work the phones looking for the right deal.
Hextall spoke to Michelle Crechiolo at NHL.com and had this to say about how he's loving the results and wants to do what he can to help his team:
To have that many guys out that are significant to our team and just kind of stepping up every night, the resiliency has absolutely been terrific. Certainly, we'd like to add a forward if we could. The price has got to be right. We have cap issues. We don't want to give up a ton of futures. So we would try to do that. The big, physical forward would be nice to add if we can find the right guy.
Look for the Penguins to check in on Luke Glendening of the Detroit Red Wings, along with Sam Bennett and Brett Richie of the Calgary Flames. While there aren't likely any blockbuster deals coming out of Pittsburgh this season, you can expect a smaller deal which could have a huge impact on the team in their playoff push to win another Stanley Cup.
