Potential Blockbuster Trade From Buffalo Sabres & Columbus Blue Jackets
The Buffalo Sabres are going to have some serious decisions to make regarding their captain Jack Eichel this upcoming offseason. The team 'considered' many trade proposals according to Elliotte Freidman of Sportsnet at the April 12th trade deadline and this summer we could see the team pull the trigger.
It's going to take a monster trade proposal for Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams to agree to the deal and one team to look out for is the Columbus Blue Jackets. They have been in the market for a #1 center ever since dealing Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Winnipeg Jets and Eichel would fit the bill perfectly.
The Blue Jackets have three first round selections at this upcoming draft and considering how much the pandemic took a toll on junior hockey, it's going to be an interesting draft to say the least. Each team has gone about it different ways to evaluate talent and we could see some selections way off the board.
While the Blue Jackets also have some contract decisions to make, they have almost $26 million in cap space where they could easily fit Eichel's $10 million cap hit.
Proposed Blockbuster Trade:
Columbus Blue Jackets receive C Jack Eichel in exchange for LW Liam Foudy, RHD Andrew Peeke, G Joonas Korpisalo and two first-round picks at the 2021 draft.
