Report: New York Rangers to Sign Free-Agent Defenseman
According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, the New York Rangers are expected to pursue some veteran defensemen this offseason. The team has a number of young players up and down their lineup and are looking to mix in some more veteran presence.
With the likes of Adam Fox and Jacob Trouba on the right-side, expect the Rangers to try and acquire or sign a left-handed defenseman. One name that makes a ton of sense is Alec Martinez who is a pending free-agent and could fit into the Rangers' top-four.
Some other names to keep an eye on as far as the free-agent class goes is Jamie Oleksiak of the Dallas Stars, Ryan Murray of the New Jersey Devils, Niklas Hjalmarsson of the Arizona Coyotes. While they likely need LHD more, the Rangers will also have interest in the likes of Tyson Barrie of Edmonton, Dougie Hamilton of Carolina and David Savard of Tampa Bay.
The Rangers project to have roughly $27 million in cap space next season so they will have lots of cash to spend on free-agents.
Big things coming from the Big Apple!
