Sharks' Patrick Marleau Ties Gordie Howe's NHL Record!
San Jose Sharks forward Patrick Marleau made some NHL history on Saturday night as he tied legend Gordie Howe's record for most games played at 1767.
Marleau is in his 23rd season in the NHL, playing mostly for the Sharks, and a couple of short tenures with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins. At 41-years-old Marleau ties the record ten years younger than Howe.
The longtime Shark will break the record on Monday night against the Vegas Golden Knights and it will also mark his 899th consecutive game played. This streak is the fourth longest in NHL history.
So far in his career, Marleau has recorded 1196 points and currently has four goals and four assists in 43 games played this season. From all accounts this will be Marleau's final season in the NHL and he will forever be enshrined in the NHL history books.
A moment for Marleau in Minnesota.
