Vancouver Canucks Superstar Likely Done for the Season
The Vancouver Canucks are likely to be without star Elias Pettersson for the rest of the season due to an upper-body injury.
The team has been dealing with a serious COVID outbreak and is expected to return to play on Sunday, however Pettersson won't be returning to the lineup. So far he's missed 11 games this season and by the sounds of it Pettersson's season is over.
The 22-year-old is skating on his own so the Canucks' management is holding out a sliver of hope as Pettersson rehabs his injury:
He's on the ice skating now, he's going to continue to rehab, but we don't have a timeline yet as to when he's going to be back, if he's going to be back at all. I was hopeful that maybe he could come back, but after the visit (to a specialist) on Wednesday, he's going to be a little bit longer yet. He'll continue to do what he can do, and he keeps visiting the specialist, and after his next appointment then he'll let him know where he's at.
So far this season Pettersson has recorded 21 points in 26 games and is the engine that runs the Canucks. He was as hot as ever leading up to his injury recording 14 points in his last 14 games.
Let's hope he and the rest of the Canucks can all get back to full strength and full health.
