Video: Anthony Mantha Scores Beauty Goal in Washington Capitals Debut
When Anthony Mantha was traded from the Detroit Red Wings to the Washington Capitals it sent shock waves across the entire NHL. The 26-year-old forward just signed a long-term extension in Detroit back in November and six months later was being shipped out of town.
While the news was certainly surprising, Mantha had to move on quick and found himself in the Capitals lineup as they took on the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. Let's just say things got started off on the right foot for Mantha and his new teammates.
The Capitals won the game 6-1 and Mantha was great in his debut, scoring a beautiful goal top corner half way through the second period. No offense to any of his former teammates in Motown, but man it must feel nice to be playing with TJ Oshie and Nicklas Backstrom.
