Video: Canucks' Alex Edler Ejected for Dirty Knee on Leafs' Zach Hyman
Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alex Edler was kicked out of Sunday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs after he delivered a brutal knee to Zach Hyman.
Edler received a five-minute major and a game misconduct, meanwhile Hyman left the game and did not return. Scary stuff for one of the Leafs most important forwards as he tore his ACL in the same knee back in 2019 that required surgery to fix.
The Leafs were pissed with the play and some of their players were open with the media after the game calling it a 'dirty play'. According to Leafs captain John Tavares via Postmedia's Terry Koshan, Hyman was positive after the game and appeared to be ok.
Here's the play which came at the end of a three-minute shift from Edler:
