Video: Maple Leafs' Zach Bogosian Slams Face First into the Boards
Zach Bogosian is as tough as they come and on Tuesday night the rugged defenseman of the Toronto Maple Leafs had his toughness challenged as he caught an edge and slammed head first into the boards.
The play happened during a 1-1 game against the Vancouver Canucks were Nils Hoglander tipped the puck in deep and Canucks captain Bo Horvat went chasing. While Horvat was closing in on Bogosian, the Leafs defenseman tried to make a play that ended terribly. He wasn't able to get his hands up in time as his leg slipped from under him and he essentially 'ate' the boards, leaving himself a bloodied mess.
In his first season with the Maple Leafs, the 30-year-old d-man has been nails from game one. Bogosian's provided the Leafs with some much needed sandpaper and his game is suited for the playoffs, where the Leafs hope he can make a huge impact. He's going to need to be in the lineup to contribute though, so let's hope nothing comes out of this incident.
Here's the play that could have ended much much worse for the Maple Leafs defenseman:
