Video: Matthews, Marner & Thornton Give Hilarious Tribute to Patrick Marleau
Patrick Marleau is now the GOAT of games played in the NHL as the veteran forward surpassed Gordie Howe's record and stands alone atop the record books with 1768 games played. And while the Sharks took on the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday, the tributes for Marleau came in league wide including one for the ages from Toronto Maple Leafs forwards Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews and Joe Thornton.
The 41-year-old Marleau spent two seasons in Toronto and built an unbreakable bond with Matthews and Marner, showing them the ropes of what it means to be a true pro. The fatherly figure turned into a best friend and the three spend time together in the offseason. Now the Leafs have Marleau's old pal 'Jumbo Joe' in their lineup and it's much of the same for the two young Leafs superstars.
