Winnipeg Jets Getting a Huge Boost Thursday
The Winnipeg Jets are expected to see captain Blake Wheeler return to the lineup on Thursday night when the Jets take on the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 34-year-old has been out of action due to a concussion.
Wheeler's missed the last six games for Winnipeg and his coaching staff and teammates couldn't be more happy to see him return to the lineup. While the anticipation was killing them, the team actually was cautious with their captain. He was eligible to return on Saturday, however with an additional four days off between games, the team went the safe route and kept Wheeler out one more game.
Here's what Wheeler had to say to the media on Tuesday about his return:
Honestly, getting these four days in addition to the extra two days, in the long run, is going to make a world of difference. I'm just happy to be feeling good, you know, feeling like myself.
Sounds like the Jets made a popular decision. Their captain ranks fifth on the team with 32 points in 39 games and looks to hit his stride over these last 10 or so games as the team prepares for round one of the playoffs.
