Capitals' Tom Wilson Comments on Panarin Incident, Wild Week

Tom Wilson appears to be recovered from his upper-body injury that took him out of Wednesday's game against the New York Rangers and the Washington Capitals forward is looking forward to moving on. Wilson commented on what was one of the craziest weeks in NHL history, where he was dead smack in the middle of the chaos.

I’m feeling good, I’m glad Panarin is doing well. He’s better. I reached out to him, and that’s really what matters right now. It seemed (like a) fairly routine hockey scrum to me, and I think that was kind of the feeling from both players in the box and then obviously it took on a new life after the game. Those scrums are chaotic and there’s lots of stuff going on, but I didn’t think too much of it at the time. After the play, I would have never thought that all this would have blown up. Nothing I say right now is going to change anybody’s opinion, they’ve already made that up and I’ve just got to keep moving forward.

His head coach feels all the attention on him is because he's a huge body who plays a tough game and is not only physical, but extremely skilled. Wilson was fined $5000 for his antics this week and, however was not suspended even though he has quite the track record of discipline.

Wilson and his Capitals teammates take on the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night.
