Flames Milan Lucic Waives No-Movement Clause
Milan Lucic of the Calgary Flames is a man of the people and someone who puts the organization before himself. The Flames forward has decided to waive his no-movement clause and now can be selected by the Seattle Kraken at the upcoming expansion draft.
Whether the Kraken select Lucic or not is another story, but this shows that he's willing to put himself out there for the possibility. By doing so, this allows for the Flames to have much more flexibility come protection time. Each team has to protect seven forwards, three defensemen, and one goalie or eight skaters and one goalie. Players who have NMCs are automatically exempt and must be protected.
Lucic mentioned he is enjoying it in Calgary and hopes to stay with the Flames. The physical specimen has scored nine goals and added 11 assists in 50 games so far this season. Calgary is a team to watch come expansion draft time because there's a good chance they leave captain Mark Giordano exposed, who could be the perfect fit for an expansion team.
If they opt for the eight skater scheme 'Gio' could be protected but that would mean it's likely someone like Andrew Mangiapane is left unprotected. Decisions...decisions. Regardless of how it all plays out, Lucic will forever be known as a 'team-guy'.
